MilkyWay Pwns My Life + The Tan Tan Taan! PV is an Acid Trip

I don’t usually write long titles but I felt that this one was appropriate.

Love the Anataboshi-but-not-ness of the covers. Sayaka looks a bit confused in the first one…

I have to say that MilkyWay win the prize of being my favourite (recent) subgroups so far. Athena and Robikerrotsu had Seishun! LOVE Lunch on their side, and I do love that song but I don’t think that can usurp the ultimate hold that Anataboshi and now Tan Tan Taan! have put on me.

To understand exactly why I have such a strong attachment to these three girls, we must go back to March. When people were still confused as to why Mikan hadn’t done as well as they’d thought and the radio rip of Resonant Blue was being passed from blog to blog.

After being drawn into a group I tend to choose someone to be my favourite and then it winding up that I don’t really like them that much after all. But for some reason when I endeavoured to like Koharu, it worked. Why? I have no idea.

I actually love her solo work (my burned copy of Kirarin Land is sitting in my CD player right now) … Her voice doesn’t annoy me at all and I find the songs ridiculously catchy.

Okay, so I lied about the at all. I couldn’t listen to PaPancake for weeks after it came out, because I thought she sounded awful, but after I got used to it and realised how addictive the song was I fell for it hard. Chance! is still my ultimate favourite of her singles and I don’t think that will change anytime soon.

Anyway – March, the month before April. A.k.a the month before Anataboshi was released.

I do not keep tabs on the Eggs, mostly I just pay attention to the music, so I had no clue who these two girls were. But on first impressions I thought that they were really quite pretty (Especially Kikka) and couldn’t wait to hear them sing. Which I didn’t get to do much of until the single was leaked and I could get my pinna around SanSan GoGo.

I was scared that, when PaPancake was announced/released that we might never hear from the girls again, so imagine my relief + excitement when a second single was announced!!!

Fast forward to today and searching on IntlWota and noting that reactions on The new PV were being posted.

I love this song to death now.

There’s even line spread, which the production teams in H!P seem to be really bad at executing - Even though I like Koharu she was monopolising Anataboshi a little and it’s nice to really hear Saaya and Kikka getting their chance.

But, er… I don’t know how to say this nicely… Saaya voice is a lot worse than I thought it was. Or maybe the song’s just mean to her. Koharu sounds pretty tame but still gets incredibly genki with the ‘Hey’s and ‘Yeah’s. And Kikka just owns. Her solo lines are perfect and she is easily one of my favourite voices in H!P.

The dance is simple and cute (if we forget about the *ahem* pelvic thrusting) and makes me want the damn tambourine even more. Seriously, you just can’t do these routines without a light-up, star-shaped tambourine! Koharu is still center for most of the choreography, but straight from the get-go the Eggs have more closeups and shots focused on them.

The scenery is almost blinding. Using that much white with that much colour may cause severe side effects, please watch responsibly. But the backgrounds really go with the song and it really highlights how different Anataboshi and Tan Tan Taan! really are, considering that their previous single’s PV had a mostly black background in comparison to this mostly white job. I especially love the rainbow-ness of the first set. It reminds me of SHINee.

Ah, it’s like having too much fun with the colour pallette on PhotoShop, but you use a tambourine instead of a mouse XD

Now I Have Something To Post About

(Sorry about the glare on the photos and the fact they’re so dull)

I was going to post about DBSK’s comeback, but then I remembered I can’t spazz. I would/probably will post about the Wonder Girls’ fourth ‘project’,  but have no motivation to do so. And I can’t be bothered to post on anything else – plus, my coursework has really pegged my time to wall and beaten it senseless.

But, since it’s my birthday on Sunday (28th Sept) I’ve bought some stuff. And will buy more, because I don’t think my mum and dad have actually bought me anything, because they only know I want CDs but not which ones.

I have a thing that I do every year. When my friends come round they stay over and we watch a film. Last year it was The Producers – Mel Brooks’ masterpiece turned into a musical. This year it was going to be…

Death Note

Death Note 2 Disc
Death Note 2 Disc

Oh yea! I found this in my local Zavvi along with The Tale of Two Sisters. I had to choose between them and the fact that Death Note was the two disc edition won me over after about ten minutes of umm-ing and ahh-ing. SUCH A GOOD MOVIE… I’ve only read the first volume of the manga and that’s actually about the first hour of the movie- And even though I knew what was going to happen, it still felt like I didn’t know what was going to happen next. But I had to change my mind about watching it, because I invited Katie – and she wouldn’t do well with all the heart-attacks and people being hit by cars and shot soooo YesAsia began calling… and then I remembered the one movie that I adored from the second I watched it and still didn’t have a copy of…

Lovely Complex (Japan Edition)
Lovely Complex (Japan Edition)

Lovely Complex is such a bizarre movie. Basically, it’s about a girl (Koizumi Risa) who gets turned down for being too tall and a guy (Otani Atsushi) who’s turned down for exactly the opposite reason! Then Risa falls in love with Otani… after telling herself that she’d never like anyone who wasn’t a similar height. I just love this movie so much – It’s damn quirky. Fujisawa Ema is just adorable as Risa, even though she moves around a lot, and Koike Teppei is just adorkable as Otani! It also ‘stars’ Tamaki Nami as Risa’s best friend, Nobuko.
Other notable things; Kubo Risa who plays Chiharu is just gorgeous and such a charming, naïve presence. The teacher who is never seen in class without some ridiculous wig. And the best of all…. MIATY!!! Kuniumi Maitake, better known as ‘Maity’, is hilarious. I couldn’t help but laugh at his insanely chirpy “Yoroshi QUEEEEN!”, and now my friends will know what I’m on about when I randomly greet them that way!
Awesomely enough, the Japan edition comes with English subtitles… the ones floating around on the web are pretty much the ones from this DVD!
Can’t wait to see what my friends think.

Because Lovely Complex wasn’t dear enough to go over the Free Shipping limit, I got to get other stuffs too. First thing I chose was this

Wonder Girls - So Hot
Wonder Girls – So Hot

I recently really fell in love with this song. I loved it before, but I do even more so now that I know the dance. Plus the packaging is so pretty. I haven’t seen half on the pictures inside before, other than the promo pics, but I will say that the girls do look So Hot. And because of ordering this I remembered to order this…

Big Bang - STAND UP
Big Bang – STAND UP

I loved every song on this since I first heard it and just had to finally get my hands on the actual disc… My first Big Bang purchase and I truly spazzed when I opened the case and saw how cool the design of the disc is (aren’t I weird?). But the fold-your-own TaeYang thing is creepy and hilarious at the same time.

And the last thing I have to tell you about.

My Sassy Girl
My Sassy Girl

I was “ten-pound-curious” (meaning I spent £10 on the DVD) and bought the American version of My Sassy Girl. I haven’t actually seen the original all the way through, but the bits of the beginning I did see were in this one, just in a different way. So it’s not totally accurate and it’s an incredibly weird story by American movie standards, but it was pretty sweet. I’m not too keen on the ending, for one thing it seemed like she was gonna die – _ – It was a decent watch, but it doesn’t illicit a ‘ZOMG I LUBS DIS MOVIE’ response. Elisha Cuthbert and Jesse Bradford have a fair amount of chemistry at least, otherwise this would have been a complete no-watchy.

Anyway…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME (ON SUNDAY), HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME (ON SUNDAY), HAPPY BIRTHDAY (ON SUNDAY) TO ME. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

ON SUNDAY.

Yuukarin’s Ba-ack!

Shugo Chara Eggs - What an inventive unit name. Really – . -
After weeks of It’s-likelies, and Maybe-she’ll-bes we now know what’s going on with this new unit for Shugo Chara.
From Left to Right we have: Saho Akari (Spades), Wada Ayaka (Diamonds), Maeda Yuuka (Hearts) and Fukuda Kanon (Clubs).
I don’t watch Shugo Chara and I don’t pretend to know how the cards concept fits in but that’s not what I care about anyway. What I care about is the fact that Yuukarin’s back! Wait, am I the only one who calls her that?
It’s a little obvious that’s she’s going to be leading this quartet – not just cause of the experience of being in High-King, but because she’s dressed in Hearts. Don’t ask me why that makes her leadership, to me it just does. Also, considering she looks the most…. normal out of all of them (apart from the hair, which is Miyabi in aspiration.) Akari, Ayaka and Kanon look like someone stole CCSakura’s wardrobe XD.
I loved Yuukarin in C/C, somehow she managed to stand out and not be completely dwarfed by LeaderX2, Captain and Reina, which is a real feat. She had a completely different voice from everyone else in that unit, but I get the feeling that here, cuteness will abound and they’ll all have realtively high voices.
Yes, I know nothing of the other three and the only thing that really gets me about them is the fact that Fukuda Kanon reminds me of my friend Louise.
According to one of the official pictures, Yuukarin is actually not the oldest. Ayaka is. (Unless I’ve gone insane and can’t read.) So I do believe that this is coming down to experience and Power Ranger sensibilities.
Well, anyway… just like MilkyWay’s new release, I can’t wait to see/hear/whatever the song. It’ll be cheery and genki like Buono! but will definitely be far more cutesy. And the PV will be a hoot, I’m sure.

Lookie, Lookie What I Found…

TATA....?

TATA....?

I love my tag surfer!
I would have missed the Pepper Keibu PV and Super Junior M’s Me MV and DBSK’s preview for MIROTIC without it.

Oh, and this.

Whoever designed the outfits had a lot of fun with rainbows. And you know what? The more I look at these the less painful they are… really. This time Kikka gets better shoes, Koha’s leg-warmer’s are wacky and Saaya’s would pass for normal if not for the rainbows and bows. The ridiculously large bow on the top makes Kikka look a little bit like she’s going to morph into a sailor senshi anytime soon.

I really want one of those tambourines… can someone tell me how you get one? And also, where’s a good place to watch Kirarin Revolution on the internet? Specifically the newer season.
Anyway, seeing these really makes me wonder what the song is like – and then what the dance is like.

Anataboshi was unusual and completely out there but in the end I find myself really loving it and I really want the same thing to happen with this new single – which I refuse to type out at the moment.

And now I must shout out my hope that MilkyWay could possibly come through with another single. It’s quite doubtable, considering Koha’s still doing her solo thing as well as this, but a fan can hope.

Pepper Keibu

What with the release of the PV, it seems to be a good time to do a quick post on Momusu’s new single.

After the scandal that was line distribution in Resonant Blue it seems that Tsunku (etc.) have learnt their lesson and everyone gets a line here. Even if they are all in pairs.

Pepper Keibu has never really left an impression on me, though I do feel that it’s beginning to grow on me. So far I prefer Mizrock‘s version of the song. Her vocal has a bit more oomph! and the Morning Musume girls sound a tiny bit lightweight. Enough about the song…

PV TIME

First thing’s first – outfits. For all of a minute I didn’t like the blue, dangly sparkly things and then I found that I really like what they’re wearing, especially the colour. For one thing, it looks really good against the darker background. The set is really simple but that is because the entire PV is basically just a dance shot with close-ups; which I have no problem with, I usually only watch the dance shot versions anyway.

The dance is… of it’s time. They need to start thinking about when it’s not a good idea to put JunJun and LinLin together as Jun’s about a head taller and it doesn’t always look particularly nice.

I’ll add more later…. I need to stop posting when I’m half-asleep.

BoA and America

Well it’s officially official. BoA’s gonna try to break America. With this…

I really do like this song, but I’m not sure how well this will work.
But I really shouldn’t pretend to know anything about the American music market because I tend to avoid music channels and I don’t listen to the radio, unless it’s BBC Radio 4.

Maybe the average American who has never heard of BoA will buy into this but I feel that;

a) BoA already has a hell of a lot on her plate already. Her Japanese activities have just about ended and she’s almost at her Korean comeback. When the hell is she gonna find time to promote her album next year?

b) Is her English really good enough? I’m not being critical, it’s an honest question. I don’t know how good her English actually is, all I’ve heard is a couple of cover songs and this ^ . She is perfectly understandable but will that be enough for the people who don’t know who she is?

But then again Soulja Boy was COMPLETELY unintelligable and how long did that craze last?

It’s almost too obvious that the American version of the music video (above) is really very Ciara like. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing is not the issue, I just wonder how it will be percieved by the general viewing public. Maybe they’ll think that there are some immitation issue, and that would be a really bad thing.

Well, I’ve got to wrap this up now.

I’ve spent most of this post being pretty negative but truthfully all I want to see is BoA succeed. She’s such a talented person and, even though she could collapse from exhaustion, she deserves to be recieved spectacularly well.

Also… If she makes it in America, there’s a huge chance that she could slip into the British market as well (as most of the stuff around these days is American music) and then maybe I could see her in concert in a few years over here…

Selfish isn’t it?
