What To Do? What To Do?

I cannot believe I didn’t download this single sooner.

The song is surprisingly awesome. The first time I heard Namida no Saki ni I liked it enough, I just didn’t give it a second thought really, but randomly today I decided to go back to it. And love it.

Crystal Kay was a random discovery. I think I found her via Shining as far as I’m aware, after a quick YouTube I turned up Kirakuni and Anata no Soba de…. Both of which have been on every incarnation of MP3 player I’ve ever had, but I fell out with her music when I tried to listen to her albums. The “R’n'B” feel isn’t something that suits me very often (With the exception of SOULHEAD, I’ll talk about them later) and her albums are made of it.

The two songs, minus those mentioned above, that saved my opinion of her music were Candy and Konna ni Chikaku de…

Konna ni Chikaku de… is one of my favourite J-Pop songs for how upbeat it is and the strings+beats thing really works damn well. Candy because it gets stuck in my head.

Namida no Saki ni is nothing like anything else I’ve heard from Kuri. It has a pop-rock feel that is just awesome and powerful and, above all, totally memorable. From her vocals it sounds fun to sing and it’s a great song to dance to. However, it deserved a much better cover [See above picture]

I’ve yet to fully watch the PV, but when I get round to it I’ll add a bit more here.

The b-side Girl Move On should definitely not be overlooked either. It’s a song that, if it were an a-side, would probably get a PV drenched in red and black velvet. It has a very strong Spanish feel with some lyrics in said language, Shakira and Enrique Iglesias spring to mind.

Can I just clear up the Enrique Iglesias thing? When I was a lot younger I knew all the words to his version of Balamos, which I promptly forgot when he got very annoying. But it’s not an unjustified comparison.

The remixes should be overlooked. The mix of Dream World sapsĀ the originalĀ of all energy that it had and the Namida no Saki ni one is just… blah. But ignoring those this single just plain rules.

If Kuri keeps this up, she’ll soon be scaling the heights of my favourite artists list.
